Traditions of Caring

JuniusJunius Rochester was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. After a career in international business, he turned to his favorite avocations—writing and historical research. He is the author of eight books, numerous articles, and over 100 historical vignettes which have been featured weekly on KUOW-FM.

His latest work, Traditions of Caring, details an exciting journey through history. Starting with Viking adventures, it follows the arrival of Norwegian immigrants in America and their eventual migration to the Pacific Northwest. The arrival of these “New Vikings” helped establish cultural, heritage, educational and medical organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Norse Home is one of these organizations. Rochester’s book finishes by describing the incredible efforts; it took nearly 30 years of planning, designing and fundraising for Norse Home’s dream to become a reality in 1957.
